The Equipping Word

Ending and Beginning

March 5, 2019  ●  19-17

Psalms 150:6: Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!

Fifteen months and forty-eight pages later I finally finished journaling through the psalms! I challenged myself back in January 2018 to journal through the psalms however long that would take. Journaling through the Psalms has been a great journey of discovery and one I believe everyone should do at least once in their walk with the Lord. The psalms speak to every part of our lives, the good and bad. The psalms give us joy in the Lord, comfort that comes from the Lord, and a proper perspective about the Lord. My life has been enriched greatly because of this challenge and I will probably do this again.

I would like to share with you just a few of my journal entries from the Psalms:

Psalm 31:19-24
v. 24: be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in the Lord.

Be strong and let your heart take courage:

The world is not spinning out of control, God is on the throne;
The day may be cloudy and dreary, but the salvation of God is light and joy and peace;
Nothing that happens to me this day is unknown to God;
God has my care on His mind;
God has placed His angels to watch over me;
I am secure in God’s salvation;
I am living in the blessings of the Lord;

And on and on it goes for the child of God. If we would just stop and think for a moment about God’s grace and goodness in our lives, how much more powerful this verse would become on a daily basis for us.

Psalms 90:3-6
v. 4: For a thousand years in Your sight are like yesterday when it passes by, or as a watch in the night.

So often we think God is on our schedule, or that we can put God on our schedule. God operates in His time. God is never late and He is always on time.

Psalms 124:1-8
v. 1: Had it not been for the Lord who was on our side, Let Israel now say.

Had it not been for the Lord none of us would have a prayer – period!

Psalms 139:1-16
v. 10: Even there your hand will lead me, and your right hand will lay hold of me.

Even in the darkest of valleys, God is there. God is present to everything, He is always as close as a prayer. What a terrible place it would be if there was anywhere we could go and God would not be there!

Now, it’s on to Ecclesiastes. Praise the Lord for the counsel and wisdom of His Word! I want to encourage you to try journaling through the Psalms, your faith and life will be the better for it.
